About The Club

Williton Royal British Legion, Rifle Club Section, was formed in 1937 using what was the pre-war and wartime Home Guard range in Williton Quarry, off Bridge Street in Williton. Today the Club is known as Williton RBL Target Shooting Club and still uses the quarry range. We no longer have any formal connection to the RBL. The Club is entirely self financing and is run by a Management Committee elected from club members. A short history of origins of the range can be found here.

Our Club is affiliated to the Somerset Small Bore Shooting Association (SSBSA) and the National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA).

We cater for all standards of shooting and whilst many of our members participate in individual and team competitions at both county and national levels, others just shoot for fun, relaxation, and their own satisfaction. Beginners are always welcome to join us and we can offer instruction and coaching to ensure that you achieve your full potential.

We shoot small-bore (0.22) target rifles on our range in Williton that is dual 25 yards and 50m outdoors, but with covered shooting positions. Competing against Minehead & District Rifle & Pistol Club in the West Somerset League, we shoot some 25yd and 50m competitions at their indoor range in Dunster.

Club members participate in various postal and other competitions including the SSBSA Winter and Summer Leagues. We aspire to maintain and build on our past and present successes.

Safety is of utmost importance to us. Members are required to display the ability to use a firearm safely and new shooters must satisfactorily complete a probationary period of shooting under supervision before being invited to become full members.

We are a small and friendly club where new members are made very welcome and every encouragement is given to ensure that your visits to the club will be an enjoyable experience.
